How to Order a Custom Cake at Edgar's
You can order an Edgar's cake three ways — online, by phone at 205.987.0790, or in person at any of our 11 Alabama locations. For standard cakes we recommend at least 48 hours' notice; custom designs, large cakes, and wedding cakes need a little more lead time. Here's everything you need to know.
The three ways to order
- Online: Schedule cakes for pickup and order many of our other products right from our bakery menu.
- By phone: Call us at 205.987.0790 and a customer service associate will walk you through it.
- In store: Stop by any location and talk with our team in person.
How far in advance should I order?
For a standard cake — like our famous 8" strawberry — we prefer about 48 hours, though our stores have plenty fresh on hand every day, so you can often call to reserve one or simply pick one up. For custom designs, large orders, and wedding cakes, give us as much notice as you can and call ahead so we can plan the details with you.
What size should I choose?
It depends on your guest count. As a quick reference, an 8" round serves 12–16 and a 10" round serves up to 40, which works for any celebration. Prefer cupcakes? They're sold individually and by the dozen, and you can mix and match flavors.

Can I change or cancel my order?
Online sales are final, but we'll always do our best to help. If you need to adjust a pickup time within your original date, call 205.987.0790 as soon as possible after placing the order. Pickup dates can be moved later (not typically earlier), since our bakers begin gathering fresh ingredients for your order right away. The sooner you call with a change, the more likely we can accommodate it — so please review your order carefully before submitting.

Keeping your cake fresh
Cakes with cream cheese icing — like our Strawberry, Lemon, and Italian Creme — should be refrigerated. Cakes finished buttercream are happy at room temperature for a while, which is handy for parties and transport.
